One Week Doctor's Appointment and Noah's arm

Hailey met her pediatrician today.  She is doing great!  Her weight gain is super!  She already weighs more than her birth weight.  From 7 pounds 7 ounces to 7 pounds 11 ounces!  Go Hailey!  Her length today was 20 1/2 inches, but they didn't have the info on how long she was when she was born.  :(  And her head is 14.2.  All of these fall in the 50th to 75th percentile.  She got her PKU recheck done, where they get blood from the heel of her foot, and she did not like that one bit.  Poor thing.  She cried the entire time, which takes an eternity.  She will be getting her Hep B shot at her one month appt with Noah.  They did recommend I go in again to see the breast feeding specialist to look at her latch as she does some funny sucking at times and wont stay on all the time, and seems to be getting in a lot of air (little miss farts).  Doc suggested a bottle and pacifier at 3-4 weeks and strongly suggested not flying anywhere until after her 2 month vaccines.  The doc asked if Hailey was breech because her legs look like a breech baby.  She wasn't, but I have since done some research and I guess breech babies can have hip issues.  The doc didn't say anything about being concerned about it with Hailey.  She wasn't concerned about her spitting up a lot either, but she would become concerned if her spitting up accompanies discomfort, such as arching her back.  And, because her weight gain is so great, she said I can try letting her sleep through the night!  Woohoo! Just means I have to feed her more often during the day to be sure we get at least 8 feedings a day.  She also said that Hailey getting purple hands and feet is normal baby stuff.  There was some crazy name for it, but not to worry.  In fact she even said babies should have warm bodies and slightly cool hands and nose and to not put more than a swaddle on her at night (a too warm baby increases risk of SIDS).  I like the doc.  She's very confident and has straight forward answers.  She's not as awesome as Dr. Clark, Noah's doc in Moreno Valley, though.  Dr. Clark was sweet, personable, loving and really good at what she does.  I miss her.  Dr. Howson is more business-like.

So anyway, I was at the doc's office longer than I anticipated, which means I missed my first mommy and baby parent group today.  Darn.  Will have to wait until next week.  But we did get the doctor's appointment and grocery shopping done AND a trip to the bank and post office to pay the rent.  I felt like that was a very productive day!

Regarding Noah's arm.  I can't believe this, but he did break another bone. :(  I guess the first xray didn't catch it, or the doc didn't catch it, because they said nothing was broken.  Turns out he broke his clavicle (collar bone).  2 broken bones and only 2 years old.  This is terrible.  Treatment is to wear a sling for the next three weeks.  Then we get another xray to see how it is healing.  He could have to wear the sling for 6 weeks if he isnt careful these next 3 weeks.  So, pretty much that means summer fun is on hold for at least 3 weeks.  BOOOO!  That stinks!  We are supposed to be running around playing and going on playdates now.  We'll make the best of it though!

We are so moving to a house WITHOUT stairs!
