Tje Dentist

This morning we went to one of the best local parks, St. Edward's Park, where we joined a large group for a free art in nature class.  The kids and I got make these pretty leaf rubbing scrolls with silk and bamboo.  They turned out pretty cool!  I think however that Noah's favorite part may have been climbing a tree. :)

After the class we had another picnic lunch, asking to share a table in the shade with a someone we didn't know.  It was nice to sit with a stranger and wind up having a nice friendly chat.  :)  Turns out she is a nanny of 3 kids and her own boy, who shares Noah's name.  They were really nice and Hailey got to love on a little baby girl for a while.

After 4 hours at the park, we headed home for a little rest time before going to see Dr. Aimee.  Dr. Aimee is a really great pediatric dentist!  Hailey did a super great job and her teeth are looking A-Okay... the dentist said her teeth are a little crowded, so just be sure to floss.

Noah got his first xrays today and also did an excellent job suffering through that as well as his cleaning (his guy wasn't as gentle as Hailey's.  I could tell Noah was uncomfortable, but he did not complain!).  He has a loss tooth that is barely hanging on, but he did NOT want to the dentist to pull it out.  He said later he didn't want it to bleed all over the place. Man, it is so hard to see that tooth so ready to go, I want to just pull it out myself!  :)  The xrays showed those top two teeth are just about to pop out and push the babies out though!  And his 4 molars are all really close to popping out!  However, the not so great news:  The dentist said that the xrays show that the molars look to have hypocalcified enamel.  hypocalcified teeth info His first new tooth that came in has a spot on it, so it is likely related. the cause is unknown, but they suggest in the first year of life something happened, like high fever, antibiotics, etc.  Who knows. This could be a huge problem for Noah, so please keep his teeth in your thoughts.  :(  One thing is just aesthetics, but also this could lead to tooth decay and the need for crowns when he gets older.  Ugh.  Also, she said he will most likely need to see an orthodontist in a year or two.  Great.  We sure tried hard to get him to stop sucking his fingers, alas he still does it occasionally.  Not all the best of news really.  But, at least he is doing a good job brushing his teeth!  No cavities and they are nice and clean!  Poor guy,  I really hope his teeth don't cause him trouble all his life. :(

The nice thing is, the kids left the dentist happy and with their new toothbrushes, flossers, toothpaste and prizes/stickers!
