Looking at Hailey this morning as she ran around, pretty much keeping up with her big brother and friend, I was really taken aback by the fact that she is already such a big girl. Granted she measures in the 90th percentile for her height, but she is just growing up way too fast. We had her 18 month doc appt this past Wed and she is doing great. The doc told me within a few minutes of seeing Hailey that Hailey is a brave girl. I asked her why she thought that and she said just the way Hailey interacted with her, so calmly and cooperatively. Doctor Howson asked her where her belly button is and Hailey patted her belly, then she asked is she could see it and Hailey lifted her little shirt. She never showed any fear... and the doc said its great, but it may also cause me stress since Hailey will show no fear! Ha, already true... Hailey is fearless and I have seen that from the beginning! She's such a blast to watch.
Weight 23 pounds, 11 ounces = 75th percentile
Height 33 inches = 90th percentile
Head 18.7 inches = 75th - 90th percentile
So you can see, she is kinda tall for her age! :)
She got one shot at her check up and was easily distracted by showing her the cute band aid, but once the novelty of that wore off, she did cry a little bit. She did have a kinda rough night that night too, so I let her sleep with us. :) All in all though, she was brave and didt cry too much. Doc Howson also commented that the child she saw right before Hailey was 2 and cried the whole time in the doc's office. Noah was always calm and cooperative with the doc too, actually. I filled out a checklist (autism screening) and Hailey passed with flying colors.
Hailey knows a ton of body parts and will point to them and is talking up a storm. She really does an awesome job of imitating speech patterns, even thought the words dont come out right the inflection and number of syllables are right on. She imitates everything I say. She likes to point out the moon (although seems like all round glowing objects are the moon right now). She tries to say Christmas Lights as we drive around looking at them, "wa wa weiss". She loves to say uhoh when anything falls, or when she tosses anything on the floor! She says stuck when something is stuck and is saying yucky now. She's also funny in her brevity - she just simply says Bye, no bye bye. She can say Bus, mine, bubbles = bubba. She likes to just look at you and say Hi sometimes, too, many times. She gets excited when she sees animals especially dogs, ducks and teddy bears! Teddy Bear = bebe. Her teddy is her favorite snuggle buddy, she just loves him to pieces!
Today we went to see Frosty and she amazed me at how well she imitated actions and danced around with all the big kids! And she even kept a bow in her hair for the first time today! I was so happy - it's just so stinkin cute!
She is quite social and will go up to anyone and try to interact... today she saw another mommy at Frosty's thing and she was holding a stuffed kitty. Hailey pointed to it and insisted on giving it a hug.
She is also opinionated and will let you know when she doens't like something. I think with a big brother she has learned she has to be! She will share readily, usually her idea too, but when she doesn't want to she will say Mine and pull the things she wants closer! She loves to bring us things and if Noah does something she has to do it too. She is so cute with her pretend play with phones and play food. One of her favoriate things is the bean bin, she also loves drawing and arts and crafts like Noah... really she jsut wants to do what Noah does. She has insisted that she is going to work at the big table and kneel or stand in the chair, despite weeks of trying to convince her that was a no-no. She even fell off the darn chair once and just climbed right back up. No fear.
She has great fine motor skills and climbing skills. She uses a spoon well with her yogurt and cereal with milk, but mostly will eat with her hands even when given a fork. She's a good eater, although she seems to not like her veggies very much anymore. She still puts lots of things in her mouth, but getting much better. She loves to climb and has been going up and down stairs independently for quite a while! She seems to understand everything we say and is really trying to tell me things like she means it! She laughs whenever someone else laughs or if someone says That's Funny. She is pretty good about not touching things when we tell her not to touch, listens pretty well! She has had a few little tantrums though, crying her face off when I put one of her favorite games away (Dont Break The Ice) or when I have to take something away from her... but it never lasts long and she is fairly easy to redirect to something else. We read 34 stories every night and she loves to plop herself in my lap and get ready for it! Before she goes to bed I always turn off the lights and hold her while I sing her Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. :)
All in all Hailey is just downright awesome and So much Fun! She adorable and fiesty and silly and happy and perfect!
