35 weeks and job choices

The highlight of this week has been insomnia.  Three nights in a row of not getting much sleep.  Not sure how I got through Friday so easily with only 3 hours of sleep... some say baby girl is getting me ready for her arrival, which may be true, but it is also that I have been thinking and thinking so much about a job offer I got.

My old boss at MISD contacted me this past week and offered me a job, full time or part time.  In fact, she had every scenario ready, anything she could do just get me to come back.  She really made me feel wanted!!  But... but... even though they pay the best of all the districts in the area, they still pay 20,000 less than what I get paid right now at my contract company.  That's a lot of money ... especially when we are about to have another baby.  I currently work for a contract company, and in fact she even said she would hire me through the contract company, but if she were able to find an OT to work for the district directly, she would have to let me go and the district couldn't then hire me later because of some clause in my contract with my company, there's a big fee.  I wonder if there is any way around that fee...

So, I work for the contract company now at another district and it has been one of the best, most stress-free years I have even had.  My hope is that LWSD will need me back again next year, but I won't know for sure until perhaps July.  And this is why I keep debating on going back to MISD... if they don't need me then I will be commuting to some other district who knows where, and who knows if it will be terrible or great there.  With MISD, at least I know where I will be year after year and I will be working toward a better pension and all that good stuff that comes along with working for a school district.

So, either way I go there are risks.  Stay with the contract company, I make the big bucks, but I may end up commuting to a yucky place.  Go to MISD and I make waaay less money, but I have stability until I retire.

Ideally I would like to be at LWSD at least one more year through my contract company and then go to MISD when (if) I get my masters (because my salary would go waay up) in a year or two.  But MISD may not have another opening for who knows how long AND my old boss is retiring next year, so I wouldn't have the same red carpet treatment coming in.

Miss out on this opportunity or take the pay cut?

Honestly, I am hoping that I can hold off on making any decisions, or saying no thank you to MISD, until I at least know if LWSD will need me back.

How many people actually read all that?  Ha!  Regardless, it helps me to write it all down!  :)  In fact I made myself a pros and cons chart during my insomnia the other night.  It just keeps coming down to the money though and right now it seems like that is the best choice for the family.
